Cabrera tossed, Tigers lose to Indians again, 12-1

The loss was also the first at home for the Indians since May 31st against the Texas Rangers, breaking a streak of 13 in a row at home.

The Indians were finally defeated by the Tigers for the first time this season on Wednesday, 12-2.

The Tigers are now 45-40 on the season and begin a weekend series in Toronto versus the Blue Jays on Thursday.

Whether the Tigers square off against their American League Central foes at Comerica Park or Progressive Field, the result has been the same: 11 times these two teams have clashed this season, and 11 times the Tigers have lost.

Tigers: Rookie RHP Michael Fulmer (8-2, 2.17 ERA) has allowed one run or less in each of his last eight starts in which he’s 6-1 with a 0.53 ERA.

A single by Mike Napoli drove in Santana, and Kipnis scored when Ramirez grounded into a forceout at second.In the eighth, Santana hit a solo home run and Chisenhall added an RBI single.Sanchez retired the side in order in the first inning, but Cleveland sent six men to the plate in a two-run, second-inning rally. The Indians are still in first place in the AL Central, they were in within range of the best record in all of baseball, and there are only four more days until they get some much-needed rest at the All-Star break.

Chen (5-3) tossed seven innings of three-hit ball, spoiling Jose Reyes’ return to the Mets in his first major league game since a 59-day domestic violence suspension. Norris, who is 1-0 with a 4.85 ERA, was making his fourth appearance of the season with the Tigers.

Weeks hit a three-run homer off Christian Friedrich (4-4), and Zack Godley (2-0) worked around trouble through five innings in front of 14,110 fans, the smallest crowd in Chase Field’s 18-year history. “Obviously, you’re going to give up runs, but I didn’t do a good enough job of limiting the crooked numbers on the board in the that fourth and the fifth inning”.
