CAF Fines Nigeria For Overcrowded Stadium
The scenes of spectators hanging off a structure in the Ahmadu Bello Stadium during the game and couple with a breach of security protocol had sparked concerns and headlined major global dailies after the game.

CAF warned the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) that further sanctions will be applied in case of a similar occurrence in future.
An estimated 40,000 fans took over the stadium in Kaduna created to hold just 25,000 spectators as the Super Eagles drew 1-1 with Egypt.
CAF, after its Disciplinary Committee meeting, found Nigeria culpable of not providing adequate security at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, for allowing excess spectators at the same venue for the AFCON clash against the Pharaohs.
The Confederation of African Football has fined Nigeria Football Federation $5,000 for overcrowding during the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier played in Kaduna against Egypt.
There were ugly scenes of fans clinging to the flood lights, scoreboard and the camera stands in the stadium which was viewed risky by CAF.

Nigeria were held to a 1-1 draw in Kaduna and then lost 1-0 to Egypt to effectively end the Super Eagles’ quest for a ticket to the Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Gabon in 2017. CAF has announced that Egypt will pay a $5000 fine.
