Cahill: You could see it was a foul from the moon

Shortly after the match an incensed Cahill tweeted a gif of the incident and Marriner’s reaction – later deleted from his account – and the England worldwide laid out his grievances in greater detail when speaking to the media.

And, just moments later, Cahill was caught in possession by Leroy Fer who raced in to slot the ball past Courtois. I’m frustrated. Come on, seriously. You could be sat on the moon, the top of the stand, anywhere in the stadium, you can see that’s a clear foul for me.

“I took the touch away from [Fer], he came through the back of me”.

“The first one is a free-kick for us and they counter-attack which can not happen and (the second goal) I think the free-kick was clear but the referee made that decision and we have to move forward”.

“It’s all fun and games for the fans isn’t it but it’s the players who suffer. That kills me personally and more important than anything it kills my team”.

Costa took his tally against the Swans to seven goals in four Premier League appearances, having first opened the scoring on Sunday and then rescued a point after the home side had scored two quick-fire second-half goals to take the lead. It’s incredible. I said to the referee ‘There are three of you that can see that.’ There were two fouls, and between the officials they said that they couldn’t see it.

Marriner has already been in the news this season after he said he missed Sergio Aguero’s elbow on Winston Reid, which led to the Manchester City striker being retrospectively punished with a three-match ban. “For me that is incredible”.

Antonio Conte, staring a first defeat as Chelsea boss right in the face, brought on Cesc Fabregas and Victor Moses as the game entered its final 15 minutes, and the pressure soon became unbearable for the hosts.
