The 66-year-old TV star – previously known as Bruce Jenner -visited a gender clinic at the age of 34, having seen an advertisement on TV, and felt really good about talking to someone who understood her issues with her identity.
The video stars athletes like Chelsea Warner, a gymnast with Down syndrome; surfer Mike Coots, who lost his leg in a shark attack; and boxer Namibia Flores, who couldn’t compete professionally in her home country, Cuba, because she’s a woman-so she moved to the U.S.to pursue her dream. “Nothing came easy, but nothing truly important ever does”, Jenner said. The film also features the rugby team King Cross Steelers, which has helped change perceptions about sexual orientation and sports; a female skate crew who think of their sport as a universal language and a form of creative expression; and Jose Aballi who won’t let any obstacles stop his dream of becoming a professional baseball player.
Jenner adds that it simply is the greatest victory to be able to wake up every morning and to just be yourself. “This person who has lived inside me all my life, there she was for the first time”.
