Caitlyn Jenner responds to Ricky Gervais’ Golden Globes joke at her expense

Comedian Ricky Gervais is fighting back against allegations that he was “transphobic” after making a joke about Caitlyn Jenner during his hosting stint at Golden Globes.

While many appeared to take Gervais’ unique brand of humour with a grain of salt, some viewers expressed their disappointment via Twitter over Gervais’ controversial joke about Caitlyn Jenner’s auto accident in February 2015.

“I think what I’m going to do is call the Golden Globes and see if they need a new host for next year”, she said, ET reports. “And we’ll solve that problem”.

“Every conservative guy out there believes in everybody’s rights”, she protests, to a chorus of jeers from her co-stars.

Jenner’s outward identification as a Republican was also a popular topic on the panel – though her answers on the subject did not entertain the crowd as much as her I Am Cait co-star Chandi Moore.

“What a year she’s had!” he continued.

“Isn’t it good that they have an ally, somebody on the team that can go in there and maybe change their minds?”

Eventually, another Twitter user, Rachel McGrath tweeted: “Re: Ricky Gervais’s defence of his Caitlyn Jenner joke”.

“To be honest with you, I don’t see dating women in the future”, she reveals to her friends.

The Office creator and star then took one follower to task after he wrote, “If your joke is about a person’s transition, it’s probably transphobic”.

“I made a joke about Caitlyn Jenner killing someone in her vehicle”.

Jenner was sued by one of the families involved in the crash, but she was cleared of criminal wrongdoing and not charged with vehicular manslaughter.
