Caitlyn Jenner is one of the 25 people honored as Glamour magazine’s Women of the Year, a distinction earned for her willingness to be “relentlessly open”, the publication said.
The star took home an award during the show for her work in creating stronger roles for women in film, which she has been able to do since spearheading her own production company, Pacific Standards, despite being told she shouldn’t. Jenner claims his previous life as a man included “many, many years of isolation”.
Jenner described her journey to becoming a woman, and spoke of how he sat down with his children to discuss plans to go public. And not one of them has abandoned me; they’ve all been supportive of me.
Her daughter Kylie Jenner was in the crowd during her speech and posed for photos with her after she received the trophy.
“What is it in life that you think you can’t accomplish?”
“Now…I actually like going out, and I like being myself”, said Bruce. “To be authentic to myself, to who I am”, she said.
Caitlyn, who is one of the most talked about women in the world, was honored at the ceremony in Manhattan, alongside fellow honorees like actress Reese Witherspoon, dancer Misty Copeland and designer Victoria Beckham. Do you know any woman in any crisis situation who has absolutely no idea what to do? “I hope Amy Schumer and all the other incredible nominees that when you consider making your biopic, that you’ll give me the rights first, which would be great, ” Witherspooon said.
“For years and years, I never felt like I fit in anywhere. I always felt as an outsider; I never felt good in the male side, and I wasn’t obviously in the female side”, she added during her speech. Finally, last week I got my driver’s license and gender marker F. It’s always the little things in life.
