A press conference has been scheduled for Monday afternoon when Modesto police are expected to provide updates in the investigation.

Officers were able to determine Martinez was traveling in another vehicle, which was found unoccupied in the parking lot of the Westfield Oakridge shopping mall at 925 Blossom Hill Road around 12:45 a.m. Sunday, Morales said.

Police said Martinez had a past romantic relationship with one of the women, who was also the mother of his daughter.

Late last week, the Staniuslaus County coroner had ruled that Christopher was the victim of a homicide. Martinez is the father of Crews’ 6-month-old daughter. A group of law enforcement officials could be seen huddled together and praying in front of the house shortly after the discovery of the bodies. San Jose police spokesman Albert Morales said officers found the vehicle abandoned in the southeastern part of San Jose.

Investigators identified Martinez as a “person of interest” and alerted authorities in the region that he might be headed to East San Jose, where he has family.

The remaining victims, while not yet publicly identified, are believed to have been relatives, according to Modesto police.

Following the death of Christopher, Child Protective Services was involved, however officers could not clarify what their involvement was with Crews and Martinez, and their children. He was arrested without incident. “I won’t be happy to sleep knowing somebody like that is my neighbor”.

Friends and family brought flowers and candles to the home where two women, including a well-respected doctor, and three children were killed.

Martinez was booked into Santa Clara County Jail on “suspicion of murder”, Graves said. The 30-year-old is awaiting transfer to Modesto where he will be arraigned.
