Though Allen was laconic and vague in most of his answers to the press, he opened up when it came to a question about the Black Lives Matter movement.
(Katy Kildee/The Ann Arbor News via AP). “All lives matter. Enough is enough; we must put down the stereotypes”.
“Later on that day it escalated a little bit”, said Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren. Those deaths were followed by the reprisal shooting of five officers in Dallas, Texas.
The rally had been organized to express solidarity following the fatal police shootings of two young black men this week: “Alton Sterling in Louisiana and Philando Castile in Minnesota”. And I hope people also understand that there are people of the black community who also do terrible, reprehensible things – such as target those police officers in Dallas. The group said they’re looking for answers and that having a conversation about racial disparity, police brutality and gun violence is a good place to start.
Rudy Giuliani said police officers save black lives, not the Black Lives Matter movement, in an interview with NBC’s Brian Williams. “Everyone in blue isn’t bad, but for those that are it makes all of us look bad if we don’t stand up for it”.
National Basketball Association star LeBron James was outspoken about the police shootings.
Brown said Johnson intentionally targeted white victims, especially police.
In Rochester, New York, 74 people were arrested after officers told the protesters they were blocking the streets, according to the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle. “There will be continued movements and demonstrations until these killings stop. We continue our efforts to bring about a better world for all of us”. “The officers who got killed in Dallas, they’ve got families too”. Others saying peace needs to be found in what some say is a violent time. Some of the officers were shot in the back, police said. But I never hated them.
He said he supported the protesters, adding “they’ve given me a three hour break”. The two-year-old movement essentially espousing non-violence it is going to struggle to channel public anger in constructive ways in a system that has gone awry due to blatant racism. “We can not about bring justice through violence”, said Hood, a pastor.
Black Lives Matter began in 2013 after black teenager Trayvon Martin was shot to death in Florida by one-time community watch volunteer George Zimmerman, who was later acquitted.
But some numbers show that the deadly police shooting statistics aren’t so black and white.
After this week, are activists concerned about their safety?
Black Lives Matter condemned the Dallas attack, calling it a tragedy not just for those affected but also for the nation.
He wouldn’t speculate on the motives of the shooter, but said: “I think the danger…is that we somehow suggest that an act of a troubled individual speaks to some larger political statement across the country”.

“That does something to the human psyche. I don’t care what colour or ethnicity you are”, he said.
