California mom gets life term in daughter’s microwave death
Lawyers representing Ka Yang, from Sacramento in California, said she had an epileptic seizure and was not aware of her actions when she put one-year-old Mirabelle Thao-Lo in the oven for up to five minutes.

At the time of the murder, Yang and her daughter were alone at her family’s home for 11 minutes, according to prosecutors.
The baby girl’s pacifier was discovered in the microwave.
The jury rejected Yang’s claims that she had been in the middle of an epileptic seizure when she placed her young daughter in the microwave.
Yang, who has three other children, was jailed for life on Friday and will serve a minimum sentence of 26 years.
Investigators found the infant’s dummy in the microwave at their Sacramento-area home.
The horrific incident led to the baby daughter, Mirabelle Thao-Lo suffering burns to 80% of her body, some deep enough to damage her internal organs, KOVR-TV reported. The bottom line is no one knows what happened in that house but her and the little baby’.
Although she had a history of seizures, paramedics did not find her to be disoriented when they arrived, according to the affidavit.
After the inconsistencies in her story were pointed out Yang finally admitted she had lied, and suggested she had a split personality.
