California School District Caves, Allows Lesbian to Run for Prom King

Despite their nomination as a couple by fellow students, two female high-schoolers are being told that their prom royalty eligibility has been rejected because it isn’t “fair” to their male peers. As of last Tuesday afternoon, Lack told the paper, they had collected more than 100 signatures.

According to an interview in Mic, Lack says that couples have “always been nominated” for the king and queen title together and that it only became a problem when the school saw that a lesbian couple was nominated.
