California university attacker Faisal Mohammad planned to kill ‘a lot of people’
University of California, Merced studenKaren Bustamante, 18, hugs her mom Gloria Bustamante of San Leandro, Calif., after she left the UC Merced campus following a stabbing in Merced, Calif., Wednesday, November 4, 2015. Investigators didn’t find evidence of mental illness or signs that Mohammad would be prone to bloodshed.

“I think the first kid he targeted had something to do with the study group he was in but that is an issue I don’t want to speculate on because the campus police are looking into it”, Warnke said.
Pursuing police later shot him dead.
Warnke said Mohammad was carrying plastic zip-tie handcuffs, a hammer, duct tape, a night-vision scope and two bags of petroleum jelly in a backpack.
“No. 27 was to ‘make sure people are tied down, ‘ No. 28 was ‘sit down and praise Allah, ‘” Warnke told Fox News. “I remember seeing four or five times, scribbled on the side of the two-page manifesto, where he wrote something like ‘praise Allah'”.
Merced, Ca – Investigators say they found a manifesto on the body of the UC Merced student who went of a stabbing spree yesterday, spree that ended in his death when police intervened.
“He had delusions of grandeur”, the sheriff said. Byron Price, 31, a construction worker doing remodeling work next door, ran into the classroom thinking he would break up a fistfight. Although the attacker’s “manifesto” made several references to Allah and indicated his intention to kill multiple people, authorities say it wasn’t terror-related. UC Merced was designated in 2010 as a “Hispanic-serving institution” and one of the requirements for that classification is that the school “certifies an enrollment of at least 25 percent Hispanic students”. They have searched his dorm room and are talking to people who knew him but again, John, according to the roommate, he really didn’t have many friends here. “He was intelligent, too – he performed well academically”.
The officer backed up and “kept continuously telling him to put it on the ground, get on the ground and put your hands above your head”, Christopherson said. He says Mohammad appeared to be enjoying the attack saying he had a smile on his face.
“(Mohammad) didn’t talk much. “Walking to class, I never saw him walk with anybody”, Velasquez said.
One student remained hospitalized Thursday, and a staff member who suffered a collapsed lung was recovering after surgery, the school said. Price and a second student were treated and released.

Classes resumed Friday. Chancellor Dorothy Leland welcomed back students with a message to “practice kindness” and offer support to one another.
