“Fire conditions will be assessed daily to determine when Hearst Castle reopens and tours commence”, the site read.
The so-called Blue Cut Fire burning in the Cajon Pass in San Bernardino County since Tuesday has scorched 37,020 acres – or more than 57 square miles – by Saturday, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, also known as Cal Fire.
State Parks supervising ranger Robert Chambers tells CBS 5 he can’t recall any other time that a fire forced the closure of Hearst Castle, saying, “A fire has never come this close before”.
On Sunday, Cal Fire reported that the blaze had destroyed 48 buildings, damaged seven more and was 35 percent contained.
Cal Fire reports the blaze has destroyed 105 single family homes and 213 outbuildings.
The Rey Fire, which began Thursday north of Santa Barbara and continues to burn along the edge of the Los Padres National Forest, is now 10 percent contained at 10,732 acres.
More damage might be discovered as firefighters pore through the aftermath of the fire that has burned 58 square miles about 60 miles east of Los Angeles.
Dillon added that there is no active fire along the perimeters.
The Chimney fire ignited about a week ago and has torn through parched timber and grass in the area.
In an odd coincidence, the castle recently observed the 65th anniversary of Hearst’s death-just a day after the outbreak of the fire.
Smoke from a wildfire billows Saturday from a ridge line behind famed facade of Hearst Castle in San Simeon, Calif., Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016. The fire has destroyed 46 structures so far.
While no evacuation orders have been issued for the area, the castle was closed and a contingency plan to move some of the pieces of the massive art and antique collection should it become necessary, according to Dan Falat, a State Parks district superintendent, who noted that not all of the rare pieces could be moved.
The Clayton Fire that destroyed almost 200 homes in Lake County is now 80 percent contained at 3,929 acres.
In Monterey County, the Soberanes Fire remains 60 percent contained at 83,830 acres.

But with the fire 68% contained, many residents were allowed to return home, Lopez said.
