Calvin Harris, David Guetta Tiesto Top Forbes DJ Cash Kings List

NEW YORK •Scotland’s Calvin Harris on Monday topped a Forbes list of the world’s highest paid DJs, earning an estimated US$66 million (S$93.7 million) in an annual payday that surpassed Hunger Games actress Jennifer Lawrence and reflected the explosion of electronic dance music (EDM).

According to Forbes’ latest rich list the 31 year old from south west Scotland is worth almost £42 million.

‘While he played fewer shows than past year, he’s seen a rise in club and festival fees prop up his earning total.

Scotsman Calvin Harris tops the list with estimated earnings of $66m and is followed by France’s David Guetta with earnings of $37m. “I happened to be in the right place at the right time”, Harris tells the magazine. Coupled with his girlfriend Taylor Swift’s colossal earnings, the pair have dethroned Jay-Z and Beyonce to become the biggest power couple in the music industry.

Dutch superstar Tiesto earned $36m, with Americans Skrillex and Steve Aoki (both $24m) rounding out the top five.

Calvin’s haul comes from the sale of his debut 2014 LP “Motion” which reached the top of U.S. dance charts and the his modelling stint for Giorgio Armani for underwear, eye wear and watch lines, as well as his own Las Vegas residency.

Harris, who’s going out with Taylor Swift, hit headlines recently after a row on Twitter with former One Direction member, Zayn Malik.
