His father, however, has his concerns.

That is the case Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera made this week after seeing his franchise quarterback on the receiving end of a number of hits in a loss to the Denver Broncos last Thursday night.
Panthers backup quarterback Derek Anderson started warming up after one of the collisions on Newton and was certain he’d be in the game following Stewart’s hit, which left Newton on the ground for 30 seconds left before he was helped up by trainer Ryan Vermillion.
In winning the NFL’s Most Valuable Player award past year, Newton passed for 3,837 yards with 35 touchdown passes and 10 interceptions, and rushed for 636 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground. “I’m not here to worry about retirement plans, to worry about pensions, to worry about worker’s comp”.
The theme sticking out for me in week 1 is that while the mainstream media works to stir up controversy, Denver and their opponents are keeping their talk about football.
Marshall expected his punishment as he said: “It didn’t [look good], I don’t want to say too much because I know they’re going to fine me”.
As most people associated with the NFL will describe it, football is a “high collision” – not high impact – sport.
“Worry about what?” Newton asked reporters, per ProFootballTalk. “He will understand player safety far more critically 20 years from now”.
Cecil also believes hitting his son has become a badge of honor for some defenders. Just because we hit Cam in the head a couple of times, that doesn’t make us dirty. This isn’t the kind of team that you are going to see take a nose dive into 4-12 territory.
Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall and safety Darian Stewart have been fined by the National Football League following their 21-20 win over the Carolina Panthers last Thursday, according to ESPN.
Newton dismissed news of the fines.
He said he doesn’t feel the need to lobby for his health, even as his teammates and coaches have done that for him.
“They wanted to try to do something a little bit different for the players, ” Rivera said of the food staff.
Commissioner Roger Goodell announced the “Play Smart. Play Safe” initiative in a letter. “We can do better”. As a part of the program, the league and owners will fund $100 million in support of engineering advancements and medical research. Russell, a cornerback, had been passed over by sixth-round pick D.J. Russell was the second Chiefs player chosen in the draft.

“He’ll be all right for the game”, Reid said, referring to the Chiefs’ noon Sunday kickoff against the Houston Texans. We’re dwelling on something that I don’t want to dwell on.
