And of course, there are the contestants, and this weekend they will have to battle it out in the infamous six chair challenge.

The Wembley crowd booed and the other judges gave him stunned looks.

Annoyed by a “rude” comment, the popstar tells her boss: “Simon if you would just like to mind your own business and wait until your category comes up!”

Rita is ecstatic with the Girls while Nick insists he’s “really, really happy” with the Boys.

The X Factor continues tonight on ITV at 7pm with the six-chair challenge.

When it’s revealed Simon is mentoring the Overs, he reacts: “Oh ****”.

But what will X Factor judges Simon Cowell, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Nick Grimshaw and Rita Ora make of the hopefuls?

However in an X Factor first it was the public who decided which category the judges should get.

All eyes will be on 25-year-old youth worker Monica Michael who has returned to the singing show after she was booted out during the six-chair challenge by Cheryl. The judges are able to offer critiques, but it is the role of the judge overseeing that category to decide if the act deserves one of the six sought-after chairs.

He added: “I would love to mentor the girls this year”.

Among a number of acts hoping to impress Rita will be 17-year-old student Charli Beard, 21-year-old sales assistant Havva Rebke and 25-year-old dental receptionist Lauren Murray.
