Cameron is Leaving More Than Just Downing Street

After announcing that he would tender his resignation to Queen Elizabeth II on Wednesday to make way for Theresa May, the British prime minister was caught on camera humming a happy little tune.

Instead, he will be in place to welcome Cameron’s successor, Theresa May, and her husband Philip- while trying to keep the famous residence and offices vermin-free.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn – who is facing his own calls to resign – praised Cameron for his legacy on equal marriage.

Amid rousing scenes in the Commons, Mr Walker said: “10 years ago I was applying to become Conservative parliamentary candidate for Labour-held Worcester, just as (Mr Cameron) was uniting the opposition and preparing it for Government”.

Amid the tributes, some MPs made suggestions for his future role, noting vacancies as England’s football manager, the presenter of BBC motoring show Top Gear and the judge on a dancing contest television show.

“He was a moderniser, which really appealed to me and he recognised that the party needed to change and we now have a younger membership that have been attracted to his politics”.

Surrounded by his wife and children, Nancy, Elwen and Florence, Cameron offered an assessment of his tenure saying he left the country stronger and better off.

“As we leave for the last time, my only wish is continued success for this great country that I love so very much”.

Cameron, who has been prime minister since 2010, didn’t take any questions after his short statement.

It was the same line Cameron used in 2005, when he was the new leader of the Conservative Party, to taunt then Prime Minister Tony Blair. May is expected to unveil the new Cabinet lineup, including a minister in charge of implementing Brexit.

“Under his leadership the country’s economy has grown by 13 per cent and a record number of fellow Britons are in work”, she said.

Corbyn used his tried and tested method of asking a constituent’s question, this time from Nina, asking for reassurance that as an European Union citizen who has lived in the United Kingdom for 30 years she will have the right to stay here.

Asked her about her prospects, Ms Rudd told reporters: “I haven’t been told anything yet so I’m just going to get on with my day job”.
