Cameron Sterling, Alton’s Son, Calls Father ‘a Good Man’

The suspects-a 13-year-old juvenile, 17-year-old Antonio Thomas, and 20-year-old Malik Bridgewater-were arrested in connection to the pawn shop theft.

Sterling was shot to death as two white officers pinned him to the pavement.

The lawsuit claimed Baton Rouge police used excessive force, physical and verbal abuse, and conducted wrongful arrests to get protestors to stop speaking out against the police.

Abdullah Muflahi, owner of the Triple S Mart convenience store where Alton Sterling was shot and killed by police last week, is suing Baton Rouge police. The killing was captured on cellphone video and circulated widely on the internet.

About 200 Baton Rouge protesters were arrested over a three-day period.

Police said Sterling was shot after reaching for a gun in his pocket. They are still looking for a fourth suspect in the alleged plot, NPR’s Greg Allen reports.

“We’ve all been asked numerous times by numerous individuals why the show of force, why are y’all responding in the manner in which you are”, he said.

The suit, filed in Baton Rouge federal court and assigned to U.S. District Judge John deGravelles, seeks a temporary restraining order against local and state law enforcement agencies to prevent authorities from interfering with the constitutionally protected right to gather peacefully in the days ahead.

While officers search for the heavily armed suspect, three arrests have been made in connection with the planned shooting.

Cameron Sterling isn’t the only child at the center of the dual police killings. Police have declined to comment about whether a gun was recovered.
