Cameron: United Kingdom must strike IS in Syria
Currently, the RAF is only able to bomb IS targets in Iraq. Later this week in parliament I will set out our comprehensive strategy for tackling ISIL.

Cameron expressed his “firm support” of Hollande’s decision to increase France’s attacks against ISIS in Syria, saying he believes Britain should follow suit but that it is up to the kingdom’s parliament to decide on the matter.
On Sunday, Cameron sketched his SDSR plans to secure Britain in the Daily Telegraph, touching on a number of similar theme to those he raised in Paris.
“As the murders on the streets of Paris reminded us so starkly, Isil (IS) is not a few remote threat”, he said, referring also to the killings of British tourists at a Tunisian beach resort in July by a lone gunman.
Brussels will remain in a heightened state of security until at least Monday, the country’s prime minister Charles Michel said.
He said: “Isil has already taken the lives of British hostages and carried out the worst attack against British people since 7/7 on the beaches of Tunisia, to say nothing of the seven terrorist plots right here in Britain that have been foiled by our security services over the past year”. “So we will tackle the poisonous ideology of Islamist extremism and refocus our aid budget to support fragile and broken states and regions, to prevent conflict and promote the golden thread of conditions that drive prosperity across the world: the rule of law, good governance and the growth of democracy”.
He also restated his intention to renew the Trident nuclear submarine system, a project which, according to the defense review, would cost £6 billion more than originally planned.
Mr Hollande, who will meet the American, Russian and German leaders in the coming days, said Britain and France had a “joint obligation” to strike at the terror group. Partly in response, London pledged this year to continue to meet a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation target of spending 2 percent of gross domestic product on defense.
He also announced that Britain would be using two new aircraft carriers by 2018, and buying nine extra Boeing maritime patrol aircraft. “We’re faced with a threat we didn’t see five years ago so we have to gear up and make sure that our armed forces haves the equipment and configuration that they need”, Fallon said.
France has intensified its bombings in Syria since the November 13 attacks in Paris claimed by Islamic State that killed 130 people.
“They are the finest in the world, and this government will ensure they stay that way. And we will also create a new 1.3 bln pound prosperity fund to drive forward our aim of promoting global prosperity and good governance”, said Cameron.

“I think there is a very clear need to deny IS freedom to manoeuvre and limit their ability to plan, and our RAF brings a capability in precision guided bombing that will enhance the capability of the coalition and give that coalition more firepower as we seek to stop these barbarous murderers in their tracks”.
