“A girl of around 12 blew herself up between two takeaway sales points. Security forces have sealed off the area and have made several arrests”, Cameroon state TV said.

The jihadist group, based in northeastern Nigeria, began launching attacks in neighboring Cameroon, Chad, and Niger in 2013.

The Boko Haram insurgents can no longer confront Nigerian soldiers in a battle in any part of the country, a senior army official has said.

At least 14 people were killed on Saturday night, July 25, in a bomb attack at a bar in Maroua, the main town in the far north of Cameroon, security sources told Agence France-Presse.

In prepared remarks to an over-capacity crowd at the United States Institute for Peace, the new President accused the Leahy Amendment of “aiding and abetting Boko Haram” by preventing the Nigerian government from accessing the military technology necessary to put down the brutal insurgency.

A resident told of “a loud explosion”, saying they had learnt there was an attack at the Boucan bar, a large and popular nightspot.

Authorities later told the Associated Press that one of the girls, aged nine, was disguised as a beggar before the explosives went off. Over 300 homes and other buildings were also destroyed in the attack which killed a total of 23 people.

Abdullahi added that the bomber was around 40 years old. “Eight of the dead are women”.

Last Wednesday, at least ten people were killed when twin suicide blasts shook the same city.

More than 13,000 people are thought to have died since Boko Haram began its insurgency in 2009.

The statement expressed strong support for President Buhari’s proposal to probe the Ministers of the immediate past Goodluck Jonathan administration “who were exporting our crude oil and pocketing millions of dollars into their private pockets”.
