CAMPAIGN 2016: Testy Trump takes umbrage with questions on fundraiser
Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, told reporters at a testy news conference in NY that the fundraiser, held at the same time as a Fox News GOP debate he was boycotting, raised $5.6 million.

And he was not at all happy about it.
I criticized Donald Trump when I heard him in the Republican debates. “My opinion of the media, it’s very low”. Her address in San Diego will not break new policy ground, but will mainly respond to Trump’s recent comments, her campaign said.
“I don’t want the credit for it, but I shouldn’t be lambasted”, he insisted.
Those six words are Trump at his most honest – and most revealing. The Washington Post got this all started by claiming that Trump was never intending to donate the money, was hoarding it or never raised it or what have you, because they could “only” find $5.6 million when he had promised $6 million. “Right? $6 million.” He repeated the figure for several days afterward, both at rallies and on TV morning shows.
For his part, Trump has defended his namesake business school, blaming the judge in the case in a news conference Tuesday. He also displayed a $1 million check of his own. At that point, Trump coughed up the money. That worldview is where “Little Marco”, “low energy Jeb”, “sleaze” reporters and a slew of other “very bad” and “dishonest” people comes from.
“The governor is not doing the job”, he said. The foundation, which took in about million in 2014 and maintains a reserve of more than $40 million, spends hundreds of thousands of dollars every year assisting family members of SEALs killed and wounded in the line of duty. “He’s been just generous and wonderful and caring”, she said. In this election, where voters – especially on the Republican side – are willing to vote for anyone who can channel the rage and alienation they feel toward Washington, politicians and large institutions more generally, Trump has prospered. A day spent talking about Trump’s relationship with the media is a day not spent talking about his own controversies. And even today there are those who still think that Trump is gonna step in it and implode and blow up like they thought he would after that first day. These are reasonable questions that many in the press and public were asking. Its founder served in Iraq with the son of one of Trump’s bodyguards.
The Bob Woodruff Foundation also received a check for $75,000.
While it now looks as if Trump is begrudgingly making good on his fundraiser benefiting veterans, Americans should tremble at the prospect of a man so quick to lose his temper and vow vengeance ever becoming commander in chief.
Yes. He gave $1 million, last week. This money was entrusted to him to contribute to worthy organizations.
Achilles International, which helps wounded veterans train to compete in athletic events, received $200,000, Trump said. Trump had not given the money.
The Trump rally attracted plenty of young people – including Tommy Payne of Woodland, who was dressed up in red, white and blue. The same group had given Trump a leadership award at a gala previous year.
“You got a guy outside, McCoy”.
Finally, what kind of billionaire promises to give money to veterans and doesn’t?
The Associated Press reports: “Phone calls to all 41 of the groups by The Associated Press brought more than two-dozen responses Tuesday”.
While Trump has long had an adversarial relationship with the media, questions about the donations to veterans touched a raw nerve with him as he tries to build a conservative base ahead of the November 8 general election.
In New York, veterans organized by an outside Democratic group protested outside Trump Tower during the real estate mogul’s news conference.
For example, take Trump’s approach.
How well did Trump’s vetting process work?
Numerous charities Trump selected seem to be legitimate and deserving.

Among the recipients, according to the campaign, are: Achilles International, the Boston Wounded Vet Run, Racing for Heroes and The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, which builds rehabilitation centers for injured military personnel. Readers may remember Trump originally released a list of 22 veteran groups that would be receiving the donations. The BBB said customers received “a high volume of what they consider to be harassing phone calls” from the group’s solicitors. There were no arrests or other problems amid the heavy security, authorities said.
