Campaign, party officials insist Trump getting back on track

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has sought an apology from his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton for the death and destruction she caused in the Middle East as the USA secretary of state. Trump’s new campaign manager is pollster Kellyanne Conway, but on top of Team Trump is Steve Bannon, the executive chairman of Breitbart News, a conservative news site that has been an ardent Trump booster.

Clinton’s campaign spent $38 million in July, about double the Trump campaign’s outlay.

The campaign paid Giles-Parscale $8.4 million in July, about twice what the San Antonio firm had collected from it over the course of the preceding year.

In all, his campaign brought in $37 million for the month.

Trump’s Russia connection became too hot when his campaign chair Paul Manafort’s ties to Ukraine’s pro-Russian government were exposed.

Trump’s personal finances remain mostly opaque, since the candidate has refused to release his tax returns – breaking 40 years of precedent by presidential nominees – and because his business is structured in a labyrinth of holdings, third parties and debt. Sizable majorities of people told the Washington Post-ABC poll Trump is biased against women and minorities and said they trusted Clinton more on race relations. “The fact the Clinton Foundation is still taking foreign contributions until the election, but not after, is a sign they know those donations lead to conflicts of interest”, Trump spokesman Jason Miller said in a statement, calling for the foundation to immediately cease taking foreign contributions.

Trump raged on Twitter against The Times, accusing it of “failing” and of referring to “anonymous sources and meetings that never happened”, but he was also angry at Manafort, who he blamed for the article, sources told The Times.

Manafort resigned as Trump’s campaign manager on Friday amid the speculation of his firm’s activity in Ukraine.

Robert Moran said the businessman’s nomination had been an “unmitigated disaster” for the party, as he lags behind Democrat rival Hillary Clinton in the polls. The hope is that Trump can avoid the missteps that have defined his campaign since the end of the conventions, including a public feud with an American Muslim family whose son was killed while serving in the military in Iraq.

A person close to the campaign said Trump had been unhappy with Manafort for a variety of reasons. “What you need to do is aim him at an immovable object, not try to change him”.

“You’re living in poverty, your schools are no good, you have no jobs, 58 percent of your youth are unemployed”, continued Trump in his message to black voters. To those I say the follow, what do you have to lose by trying something new like Trump? It will be tough for Clinton to replicate that sort of turnout in November, although alarm about Trump could motivate voters of color even if they are not inspired by Clinton.
