The Miami Dolphins are 1-3, they’ve fired their head coach and Ryan Tannehill is angry. The Dolphins went 3-5 in their last eight games which included two losses late in the game to the Detroit Lions and Denver Broncos.

Like Allen, Philbin’s position seemed untenable after a lacklustre London performance where Miami were poor across the board against the Jets, who won the 100th meeting between the two by a 27-14 scoreline. “I feel like we always start at a better place than these other teams because they’ve got so much ground to make up”.

The team announced that tight ends coach Dan Campbell will be the Dolphins’ interim head coach. “At least we thought it does”, Ross said during his conference call this week. “That’s not my plan”.

Despite a reasonably strong start to the season, albeit against weak opposition, the Canes came out flat against a Cincinnati team starting a freshman backup quarterback in a 34-23 loss last Thursday.

“I want them to have to compete”. According to the report, Tannehill made a crack about giving McCain a scout team trophy. Doubts only grew this season regarding Philbin’s inability to motivate players with his passive demeanour. Bowles finished the 2011 season 2-1 as the Dolphins’ interim coach after he replaced the fired Tony Sparano. “We have plenty of talent”. There have been good times and bad times, but Coyle’s group hit a new low this season.

“This is my sixth season with the Miami Dolphins, and this is the most talented roster we have had in those six years, ” Campbell said.

Philbin released a statement of his own, thanking Ross, the players and staff, and the fans.

Philbin met with Ross on Sunday and said he was confident that he still would be the coach when Miami plays the Titans in Tennessee on October 18. Though the situation is fluid, it’s interesting that most of the changes have been made on the offensive side of the ball. “I felt this was the best opportunity we have – to pick Dan Campbell as our head coach”. “We knew where our weaknesses were and we thought we could overcome those weaknesses, and develop players that could play at that level”.

Despite being a relative newcomer to coaching and not having experience as a coordinator, Campbell believes he’s ready for the gig. But the Patriots certainly have a few things going for them that their division rivals do not. He also expressed his intention of turning around the Miami Dolphins by implementing more intensive practices and by levelling up his coaching aggressiveness during game days.
