The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office released a statement saying, “Sheriff’s detectives arrested two men at the Nederland High School evacuation site for their role in the start of the Cold Springs Fire”.

Authorities say Jimmy Andrew Suggs and Zackary Ryan Kuykendall, both from Alabama, face felony arson charges because of the dangers the fire poses. The fire crossed Boulder Canyon yesterday and firefighters were able to contain it quickly in that location.

The shaded yellow portion of the map is the evacuation area, while the shaded orange reflects the fire perimeter.

At least six buildings have already burned to the ground – including three houses – and nearly 2,000 people have been evacuated from their homes.

About 250 firefighters are now working around the clock to protect the other homes that could find themselves in the fire’s path, depending on how the wind shifts. Suggs says they had “never seen anything like it”.

Both men have been booked into the Boulder County Jail where they remain pending bond.

It is zero percent contained.

Boulder County Sheriff Joe Pelle said evacuations won’t be lifted because of the weather forecast, with hot weather and high winds making it too risky.

The Hayden Pass Fire, burning in the southern Colorado mountains, has forced the evacuation of over 100 homes as it spreads toward the small community of Coaldale.

At this time at least 4 houses have been confirmed destroyed, with more in the fire zone waiting for evaluation.

Officials have spotted an unauthorized drone over a southern Utah wildfire for the fifth time since it ignited almost a month ago. Hundreds of firefighters are on the ground working to put out the flames, including air support, hot-shot crews and local fire crews.

The 3.6-square-mile fire has been burning on a ridge above the town of Pine Valley. It’s unclear if the same unmanned aircraft has been flying over the fire in all five incidents over the past month. If you would like to discuss another topic, look for a relevant article.
