Can Bernie Sanders Bounce Back on Super Tuesday?

Clinton’s remarks Sunday, given her audience, were also very targeted towards enriching historically black colleges and universities and addressing racism.

Bernie Sanders has been making a strong push in this state, there are 38 delegates at stake.

The political landscape is becoming a little clearer on the eve of “Super Tuesday”. That was called into question by Clinton’s narrow but still unprecedented win among white voters in SC.

MSNBC’s Steve Kornacki tweeted out this tidbit from the early exit polls, and it’s being interpreted around Twitter as good news for Hillary Clinton – which it may well be!

The most frequently discussed takeaway from Hillary Clinton’s massive landslide victory in SC over the weekend is that it portended a boffo performance in the Southern primaries that make up over half of the 11 Super Tuesday contests.

Clinton, the former secretary of state and senator, won in Texas, Arkansas, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia and Virginia. But she also has aired this ad about 100 times focusing on immigration.

After his drubbing in South Carolina, Sanders hopes to shift the momentum back in his favor with strong showings in Colorado, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oklahoma and his home state of Vermont. Travis County officials expect up to 130,000 voters at 190 polling locations – a vote that would outperform the 2008 primary turnout of some 111,000 voters, notes the Austin American-Statesman.

Crucial states in the race include Republican Senator Ted Cruz’s home state of Texas and the more moderate MA, where Mr Trump may find less favour. Despite heightened efforts by the GOP establishment to stop him, Trump says he is “a unifier” who soon wanted to put internal Republican squabbles behind him to focus on Hillary Clinton.

Sanders has run an impressive campaign, sparking enthusiasm among many people and forcing Clinton to take the primaries and caucuses seriously.

“We have get out and vote”, said Trump. In addition to providing a running contrast with the Republican assault on decency, a prolonged Democratic contest means both candidates keep competing to register voters, identify donors, and organize supporters. Most disappointing among them was Rubio’s failure to reach the 20 percent threshold in Texas, leaving him empty-handed in the most delegate-rich state on Tuesday’s map. “Sanders doesn’t just have to start winning a few states, but he needs to start winning everywhere and by large margins”, Mook wrote. The total, without the superdelegates, amounts to Clinton with 91 delegates, Sanders with 65 delegates. The Florida senator is one of the most viable conservative alternatives to Trump still standing, but he has yet to win a primary or caucus state. After that, she will look to women for robust support as the general election race enters the homestretch.
