Hillary Clinton has released a new video hitting Donald Trump for his “embarrassing” trip to Mexico.
Peña Nieto and Trump met privately for an hour and later spoke to the press in the head of state’s official residence. A much more measured Trump described Mexicans as “amazing people” as he appeared alongside Pena Nieto in Mexico’s capital.
The speech caused outrage in America’s Hispanic community, prompting some major Latino supporters of Mr Trump to revoke their endorsements for the presidential nominee. In the news conference, Trump said payment wasn’t discussed. “Mexico will never pay for a wall”.
“We want people to come into our country, but they have to come in legally and properly-vetted, and in a manner that serves the national interest”, he said.
The fiery speech confirmed Tr ump’s hard line on immigration shortly after he insisted to Pena Nieto that a giant wall would be built on the US-Mexico border if he was elected. Our message to the world will be this: you can not obtain legal status, or become a citizen of the United States, by illegally entering our country.
On Wednesday, Trump called the Mexican people “spectacular” while even going as far as to say that he considers President Nieto “a friend”, before explaining to those in attendance that, “having a secure border is a sovereign right and mutually beneficial”.
Trump is soon expected to reveal more about his immigration plan, which will undoubtedly include the issue of illegal drugs.
“His policy stances could represent a huge threat to Mexico, and I am not prepared to keep my arms crossed and do nothing”, Pena Nieto stated in a TV interview quoted by The Telegrapgh.
At the Phoenix rally, Trump also promised that his administration would have zero tolerance toward criminal undocumented immigrants, vowing to create a deportation task force within the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement division so as to identify and quickly deport them.
“We’ve got to get it stopped and get it stopped quickly”, Trump said. “Can’t do it”, said Trump on Wednesday.
Trump also accused Clinton of breaking the federal budget by pledging amnesty and granting welfare to undocumented immigrants in her first 100 days as secretary of state. “It is unsurprising that they hold two different views on this issue, and we look forward to continuing the conversation”, said Jason Miller, senior communications advisor of the Trump campaign.
