Now here is some food for thought. Do you feel earth would be able to defend itself if attacked by extra terrestrials? As outrageous as this question might seem at this point, it is something that might one day end up being a realistic possibility. At least, this is the issue Russians are discussing at the moment and even seem worried about. Russians are fully capable of countering any sort of aerial attack provided that attack is from some other part of this very planet, but if attacked from outer space by anyone other than the human race, Russia does not have the technology to defend itself.

This issue was raised by a Russian reporter during a conference at the Titov Main Test and Space Systems Control Center near Moscow. An official of the control center informed the reporter that Russia till now has been too busy trying to perfect its defense systems to counter threats from other countries on this planet and hence haven’t had to time to focus on the possibility of an attack from extra terrestrials.

Well, the scientific community by now has reached a near consensus about the fact that aliens exist. This is mainly because of the number of earth-like planets that have been spotted not only in our galaxy, but also in galaxies far far away. Now the question is, will we ever make contact and if we do will these beings from outer space land up at our doorstep
with malicious intent? For now Russia doesn’t consider an alien invasion to be a serious threat and it seems neither do other nations around the world. In fact, we are too busy fighting amongst ourselves to bother about some alien race attacking us.
It needs to be mentioned here that we do not have the technology to travel to even remote parts of our galaxy, let alone traveling beyond it. Hence, if some alien race were to land up on earth, it surely would have technology much superior to ours, which is why it is for now impossible for Russia or any other nation to prepare itself for an “Independence Day” like situation. Reported sightings of alien crafts and UFOs aren’t something new, but no conclusive evidence has to date been gathered by any nation, for us to really begin worrying.
