Can Hillary Clinton win the support of Bernie Sanders supporters?
Hillary Clinton officially accepted her Democratic presidential nomination for the November 8 election on Thursday in the most important speech of her career. “Isn’t he forgetting troops on the front lines, police officers and firefighters who run towards danger, doctors and nurses who care for us, teachers who save lives?”

Accepting the Democratic nomination for President on Thursday, Hillary Clinton leaned into her status as the first female nominee for President from a major political party.
She also emphasized that national security requires a steady hand and someone who can offer reassurance – a slap at Donald Trump and his perceived volatility.
The Democratic event, packed with celebrities and well-received speeches by President Barack Obama, first lady Michelle Obama and former President Bill Clinton, had reached more viewers than the Republicans for each of the first three nights of their respective conventions. He says Trump’s vote is being driven by white voters. “But I’m here to tell you tonight – progress is possible”. Trump also bashed Clinton as “owned by Wall Street” and claimed her “vision is a borderless world where working people have no power, no jobs, no safety”. Well, we heard Donald Trump’s answer last week at his convention.
The convention on the whole celebrated two huge details of Clinton’s candidacy that had previously been cast in a negative light: first, that she is a woman and her candidacy is historic, and second, that she is deeply entrenched in the system-which is what makes her so qualified.
“Whatever party you belong to, or if you belong to no party at all, if you share these beliefs, this is your campaign”, she said at another point. When there are no ceilings, the sky’s the limit.
A patriotic lineup of speakers addressed a chief attack in the past week from Republicans, who had criticized the lack of American flags on the stage as well as the fact that many speakers didn’t name the terrorist organization ISIS.
Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump speaks during a campaign event on July 28, 2016 in Davenport, Iowa.
“He spoke for 70-odd minutes. Because when more than 90 per cent of the gains have gone to the top 1 per cent, that’s where the money is”, she said.

In an interview with NBC News, 21-year-old Steven Yeung, Virginia’s youngest delegate, called Clinton’s speech “uplifting”. “He’s taken the Republican Party a long way, from “Morning in America” to ‘Midnight in America.’ He wants us to fear the future and fear each other”.
