Canada to help developing countries tackle climate change
Before leaving Malta, where Trudeau had taken part in his first Commonwealth leaders’ summit this week, the prime minister said he’s “very, very optimistic” that a new global agreement on fighting climate change is achievable. “Many of our most vulnerable states and communities are already facing the adverse impacts of climate change, which can roll back decades of development gains; for some it represents an existential threat”, it said.

On the eve of the global climate conference in Paris, Canada has announced it is more than doubling its previous contribution to help fight climate change in developing countries.
In his welcome address, Prime Minister of Malta Joseph Muscat said combating terrorism and extremism should be the top most priority of Commonwealth and sought wider discussion among the member countries to deal with the challenge of climate change.
But French President Francois Hollande is also attending even though his country is not part of the Commonwealth, to join a session on battling climate change.
But any eventual targets set by countries involved in the negotiations likely won’t be legally enforceable internationally because the United States isn’t prepared to accept that as a condition for reaching a deal, Catherine McKenna said Friday before leaving for the French capital. “It require us to take action all around the world”, he said.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made the announcement Friday at the summit of Commonwealth leaders in Malta, where the battle against global warming is becoming the dominant issue.
The Queen is 89 which means she was around 44 when Justin Trudeau was born.
India is now considered a crucial nation for the global climate change talks that officially open in Paris in Monday, especially since the US and China agreed to set emissions goals a year ago.
“And the debates we have had since I came yesterday are very, let’s say, lively”.
Mr Turnbull announced that Australia will commit $1 million to a climate finance hub in Mauritius that will help island nations access funds to respond to climate change.
One area of focus during the conference will be selling Alberta’s new climate change plan in meetings with stakeholders and governments, focusing on the buy-in from both the oil and gas sector and environmental groups.
It could be the Queen’s last attendance at the Commonwealth gather held every two years since she no longer travels long haul. Queen Elizabeth signs the Constitution Act, thus empowering Canada’s legal foundation, including our Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
“On that cool day in April, seated next to you, was my father”, said Trudeau, 43.
Earlier, Trudeau said he’s been “thrown into the deep end” of worldwide summitry since his election last month as prime minister.
