A WestJet flight en route from London, England, to Edmonton landed in Iceland Saturday after pilots declared an emergency, according to British media.

The plane was due to land in Edmonton, Canada at 12.59pm local time.

After circling the airport a few times the flight landed normally, and all passengers and crews were reported to be safe.

“WestJet sincerely apologizes to our guests for the inconvenience and asks them for their patience”. An emergency declaration allows the plane to make a priority landing, with emergency vehicles ready to assist as necessary.

According to the AviationNews24 Twitter account, the flight experienced a left engine warning light about two hours after takeoff.

The flight appears to be making its way to Keflavik International Airport in Iceland but it first turned around on its path and was out over the Atlantic.
