Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban is out of the hospital after being taken off the ice on a stretcher following a hit to the side of the head by a teammate Thursday.

Subban had to be stretchered off the ice near after falling and being accidentally struck by teammate Alexei Emelin, who knocked him on the side of the head.

The Canadiens said Subban had been taken to a hospital for further testing and said he had normal movement in his extremities. That streak will likely be broken on Saturday when Montreal plays Minnesota.

The injury occurred in the dying minutes of the game, which Montreal won 3-2.

In Detroit, Justin Abdelkader scored the tiebreaking goal late in the third period to help the Red Wings snap a three-game losing streak.

Mike Condon is expected to start in goal against the Wild. The winger managed to control a bouncing puck and beat Lehner from a tight angle through traffic.

Montreal is barely in the Eastern Conference playoff picture as it is, and its postseason aspirations could be dashed depending on the diagnosis. They are 7-0-1 in their last eight home games. Veteran Jason Pominville, who scored in the first meeting with the Canadiens, will miss his second straight game with a lower-body injury.

That’s when Galchenyuk went to work.

“When you see that whole situation, it’s really scary”, said Canadiens captain Max Pacioretty.

The 22-year-old added his second of the game with 44 seconds left in the second.

Subban, 26, is Montreal’s leading scorer with six goals and 50 points in 67 games.

After former Canadiens captain Brian Gionta tied things up at 2-2 at 5:10 of the third period, Mitchell scored the victor for Montreal at 13:21.
