The ladies discussed whether a bakery in Oregon had the right to refuse baking a cake for a lesbian wedding.

Now that the Supreme Court has ruled that same-sex marriage is legal in all 50 states, the issue of gay rights and their relationship with religious liberty is becoming a hot-button topic in the U.S. On an nearly weekly basis, stories of business owners refusing to do business with gay patrons – even hypothetically, as in the infamous case of Indiana’s Memories Pizza – make the news.

Things got a bit heated on yesterday’s episode of “The View” when “Full House” alum Candace Cameron-Bruce and “The Cosby Show” child star, Raven Symone, debated discrimination against freedom of association. The bakery was fined $135,00 to compensate the couple for “the emotional and mental anguish they suffered”, notes Us Weekly.

Candace Cameron Bure defended herself Thursday after generating some controversy during her turn as a guest co-host on “The View“. “It was about these bakers and their religious freedoms and the freedom of association”.

“I don’t think this is discrimination at all. We do have the right to still choose who we associate with”, the Fuller House star continued.

Co-host Raven-Symone strong disagreed with the actress, claiming the bakery discriminated against the couple based on their “sexual orientation” and likened the case to past discrimination of black people.

A debate broke out in the United Kingdom earlier this year after TV presenter Coleen Nolan appeared to compare ordering a cake with “support gay marriage” on it to one which reads “support ISIS”.

Bure argued the owners of Sweet Cakes By Melissa didn’t refuse to bake the cake simply because the customers were lesbians.
