Canelo Alvarez sidelined for rest of year with thumb fracture

The British middleweight champ criticised Dominic Ingle’s courageous decision to pull Kell Brook out of the clash with Gennady Golovkin last weekend.

“But if they realistically want to make the fight happen, they have to make an offer that makes sense”.

Hearn says everything was agreed from Golovkin’s side, leading to questions about why Eubank stalled.

The 34-year-old said: “I want a fight with him and I am open for everybody I think now he’s ready”. I went down to see the surgeons and they wanted to plan it right and look into everything.

“I had a taste with the Golovkin fight and the attention around it is exciting for a fighter to be in”.

“Looking back now, at the time I did want to fight because I am a fighter, but in the long run the doctors have said if I had carried on getting bigger shots on the eye, I could have ended up being blind”. Either fight would be big, the Khan fight more so in the United Kingdom, and what’s more, you would have to be a fool to give Brook anything less than a decent chance at worst of winning either match-up.

It would be intriguing to see if the likes of James DeGale, Badou Jack and the rest of the belt holders at super-middleweight could be dealt with in quite the same manner as Golovkin has done in the division below, but that in turn means the Canelo fight would be completely off the table. “He just touched but I didn’t feel his power”.

“When Manny Pacquiao was offered a $40 million dollar cap or fee for his fight with Floyd Mayweather, and he turned it down, everybody was in an uproar”. “Even if many don’t agree that I am the best, I am”.

“It’s up to him as he’s looking forward to September [2017]”. With everything he’s been through in his life and career, I can’t see anything Crolla stopping now – watch him become the No 1 lightweight in the World live on Sky Sports. I was starting to settle into it but when you see three, four, five of them it’s hard.

De La Hoya said his plans were for Alvarez to fight in December and May before potentially facing Golovkin.

Joshua also defended the decision of Brook’s trainer, Dominic Ingle, to thrown the towel in, with x-rays later confirming the fighter had suffered a broken eye socket.

Brook showed his mettle against Golovkin, he was not knocked cold and he won some points (on the cards, as well as making a few points with his performance).
