Canelo stops Khan – results
Despite his own underdog status heading into his prize fight against Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (47-1-1), there was no fairy tale ending to Amir Khan’s story like there was at King Power Stadium on Saturday.

The back of Khan’s head bounced off the canvas, prompting his seconds to rush to his aid as he lay motionless for a couple of minutes.
Khan, a natural welterweight, had moved up two weight classes for the middleweight bout against Alvarez, and was a heavy underdog going into the bout.
Conor McGregor was quick to praise Amir Khan’s decision to go up in weight and take the fight, something he knows all about… “I’ve not spoke to Al yet – he wants to talk with me – I also need to speak to Virgil (Hunter), my trainer”. I didn’t make it to the end, but I tried my best.
“I will probably go down to 147 now”.
Canelo Alvarez overcame a very slow start Saturday night and crushed Amir Khan the way virtually everyone expected. “Like I said at my last fight, right now I will put my gloves on again and fight him”.
“I’ve got the Garcia fight there, I’m still (in) the mandatory position with the WBC, that’s a big fight for me”.
“I invited him to come into the ring”, Alvarez said. “Like we say in Mexico, ‘We don’t f**k around, ‘” Alvarez said. He said, “I’m one of those fighters that will step in the ring with whoever”.
Khan was the clear underdog for the fight with the physically bigger Mexican, who at just 25 years old had won 46 of his 48 fights – his sole defeat coming against the unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr.
“I don’t really like getting into political issues, but it hurts, it offends”, Alvarez said. “I fear no one in this sport”.

The favored victor added that people only saw his power, but did not consider that he still has other skills inside the ring. “It was a human reaction to make sure he was okay and I’m glad he appears to be”. After the fight, Alvarez called out Gennady Golovkin who was sitting ringside.
