Canucks at Red Wings

The Vancouver Canucks could be without their captain for a while as Henrik Sedin suffered a lower-body injury in Thursday’s 2-0 road loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.

Minutes later Detroit’s Joakim Andersson scored, ending the second period 2-1. Zetterberg tied the score at 3 with 1:07 left in the third period. It was Baertschi’s first goal of the season.

Vrbata gave the Canucks a 3-2 lead 5:33 into the third period when he picked up a rebound skated across the top of the crease and slid a backhand shot past Howard.

Canucks’ goaltender Ryan Miller made a great save off Gustav Nyquist in overtime, while Detroit’s Pavel Datsyuk hit the post to send the contest to the shootout.

The Red Wings dominated much of the final 15 minutes, keeping Vancouver trapped in its end, but weren’t able to beat Miller until Zetterberg snuck a shot past him with the Red Wings’ goal empty.

Minor-league callup Linden Vey won the shootout for Vancouver with a wrist shot in the seventh round. D Kyle Quincey skated with the Red Wings in practice on Friday for the first time since undergoing ankle surgery.
