There appears to be greater interest in the construction sector this year as engineering and architecture courses have seen a rise in required points.

The first round offers cover courses at levels six, seven and eight, and more than 52,000 applicants will receive an offer from the CAO this morning.
A maths course at Trinity, which rose 30 points last year, is up another 15 points this year.
Points for arts at UCD, the largest third-level course in the country, are down by ten. However points fell in many Arts courses and fell slightly for Medicine.
The minimum CAO points for most of the main university arts degrees are the same as past year or down, by as much as 20 points at Maynooth University due to increased intake and the inclusion of some other humanities degrees into its main BA entry route.
And if you have been offered two courses today; a level 8 and a level 6 or 7 you must choose one.
The points needed for two-thirds of courses have either fallen or stayed the same since a year ago which is good news for those receiving their first-round offers.
Business courses also see a hike in points requirements like DCU’s Global Business course which has now increased to 590 points due to overwhelming demand.
The Central Applications Office is this morning issuing over 75,000 round one offers, consisting of 41 thousand level 8 courses and 34 thousand level 7 and 6 courses.
Level 8 Round One first preference offers: 21,505 (32,912 receiving preference 1, 2 or 3) i.e. 52% receiving preference 1, 79% receiving preference 1, 2 or 3.

Students have until 5.15 on August 29th to accept Round One offers, or the offer will lapse.
