Capcom Postpones Street Fighter V Beta Following Issues
Of course, this wasn’t the best possible outcome for the beta; that would require Capcom‘s final beta postponement message to include, “Also, wow, doing our own netcode wasn’t a great idea, and we’re just switching to GGPO now”.

At first, Capcom apologized for all the problems with the Street Fighter V beta, saying they’d extend the test. It’s good to know that there will still be three full beta tests prior to the title’s launch, but it’s hard not to be frustrated and disappointed if you were expecting to play the new Street Fighter this weekend.
The beta for the game has been essentially unplayable, due to their servers being overloaded. The goal of the beta is indeed meant to test the multiplayer connectivity and to gather all sorts of combat data between Ryu, M. Bison, Nash, and Chun-Li. For those who have pre-ordered Street Fighter V, the beta testing began on July 23rd, but was taken only five days later, on July 28th, with no reports on when it will be coming back.
Capcom had better make it up to the annoyed gamers who signed up for Street Fighter V beta only to be bombarded with several mishaps and server shutdowns. And, thank goodness, this weekend’s failed experiment “will not count toward our previously announced beta test allotments”.
Capcom said it’s working on a “worthwhile in-game incentive” for players that participated in the first beta test, but did not provide specifics.

After a series of server errors, games will be forced to fight another day as Street Fighter V beta is postponed until further notice. Either way, we will still be providing these players with an incentive as well, as all territories were inconvenienced. With that in mind, it’s very important that Capcom still deliver on its promises of three betas with the exact amount of playable time that it promised users early on. As for those who are already playing the beta, we recently dug out all characters’ move list which will help you familiarize with all new moves.
