‘Captain America: Civil War’ – What Did You Think?
It’s pretty obvious that Avengers: Infinity War (regardless of whether or not that ends up being the title) is going to be a huge movie with a lot of characters, but we can now officially add Captain Marvel to the list. After the Avengers were involved in several high-profile showdowns that caused civilian casualties, the government wants the superhero team to be subject to its authority and limitations.

Despite populating the film with so many superheroes, directors Anthony and Joe Russo make Civil War about character and outcome. It crammed too much stuff into the movie to try and set up the rest of the franchise, particularly in the second half of the film. It’s really great stuff and they play off of each other really well.
The highlights for me were Black Panther played by Chadwick Boseman and Spider-man played by Tom Holland.
The two new Team-Up Super Heroes are Agent 13 and Falcon. Civil War isn’t as instantly likeable as the first Avengers movie was, but it’s certainly a better night at the movies than watching Batman and Superman fight a battle in a bleak and murky hellscape. Their work on Infinity War actually began six months ago, according to Joe Russo, as they started working out the stories a few weeks after post-production started on Civil War.
Captain America is as fearless as ever. This time, Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) square off over how much autonomy the Avengers should have when so much collateral damage lies in the wake of their good deeds.
Don’t worry, you don’t need to see every single Marvel movie to understand the latest. Superheroes collide in the star-studded film that pits Captain America against Iron Man. It was just mindboggling how the filmmakers would make him so young in the movie.

Civil War has already grossed $261.6 million internationally. For that matter, Marvel has done such an wonderful job with its casting, it’s hard to imagine most of the characters being recast. But mostly, you should know that Cap and Iron Man are the two leaders of the Avengers, so when they get in a fight (which they do in this movie), it fractures the team. In some ways, he’s the most Shakespearean character in the movie, a victim of his pride, his wreck of a personal life, and massive sense of responsibility. And, hey, look at that, another hugely popular Marvel character could be making her debut in that one: Captain Marvel, known at one point as Ms. Marvel.
