‘Captain America’ Wins Box Office for Second Straight Weekend
Its worldwide total has hit $647 million, making Civil War the fourth-highest grossing superhero movie of all time behind Avengers: Age of Ultron ($946 million), The Avengers ($895 million) and Iron Man 3 ($806 million) – again, all Disney-Marvel films.

Another film showing promising gains this weekend was newcomer The Darkness, a supernatural horror thriller from director Greg McLean.
“The Jungle Book” placed second with $17.8 million. The TriStar Pictures film launched in 3,104 theaters and had a budget of $27 mn. The Kevin Bacon film brought in $5.2 million from only 1,755 screens.
The movie’s commercial success was dependent on the theatres and it might be accredited to the two main stars that the movie brought in $15 million which was beyond the expectation.
From a cheeky Steve Rogers to a tied up Tony Stark, it’s the passionate love affair we all wish was an actual part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
What, if anything, did you see at the movies this weekend? New Line’s third weekend of “Keanu” followed in eighth with $1.9 million at 2,120 locations for a domestic cume of $18.6 million.
Releasing a superhero film during the summer vacation has paid off, believes distributor and trade analyst Girish Wankhede. “It’s not competing with all the noise”. Hale and Pally are pitch-perfect as underachieving pool store employees and all of the other reenactors have at least one great moment (much like the movie that the short is based on). This is before the big Memorial Day release of Alice Through the Looking Glass and X-Men: Apocalypse. “It’s mostly business as usual”.
Following are estimated ticket sales for Friday through yesterday at USA and Canadian cinemas, according to comScore. Final domestic figures will be released Monday.
