A complaint by the driver of the vehicle was referred to the IPCC by the Met on Monday evening.

In the video, the policeman is seen repeatedly asking the driver to vacate the vehicle claiming he is, “not aloud to drive it”.
He then starts hitting the side window with a baton at which point Mr Fontana says: ‘I’ve got a licence.
“I told him I will show him my ID but wouldn’t get out the auto because I didn’t need to”.
“You’re smashing this for no reason”.
The officer continues to strike the windscreen, shattering the glass and proceeding to cut it with what appears to be a penknife. He went on to say “you’re not allowed to drive it”, before beating the driver’s window with his baton.
Incredibly, the whole incident has been admitted by police as a case of mistaken identity.
This shocking footage appears to show a police officer attacking a auto after the driver refuses to get out.
Meanwhile, the officers involved are on restricted duties.
The Met Police said in a statement: “The officers involved in the incident have been identified and have been placed on restricted duties”.
He said: “Every time he smashed the glass, fragments of glass were just ricocheting in my face”.
The incident on Weedington Road in north London on Friday was captured on camera by the driver in what police have admitted was a case of mistaken identity. Look, look what they are doing to my auto.
Another officer then confronted the man.
The driver then asks: “What’s the problem officer”.
You’re disqualified. You’re not allowed to drive.
A second officer then sprints up to the passenger side and screams “Get out the vehicle now TJ”. I’ve got a licence.
The driver then asks the officer: “Do you know what you just done?” to which the officer apparently replies: “I’ve done absolutely nothing, I just need to know who you are”. “Why ain’t I allowed to drive the auto?”
The officers were searching for a suspect when they stopped the driver in question, as he matched a description of a man wanted by police.
It is not known what led up to the incident and no one was arrested.
The video, which has not yet been independently verified, has been shared on Twitter and Instagram where the officer’s actions have been described as “mindless vandalism and intimidation”.

IPCC Commissioner Cindy Butts said: “A large amount of public concern has been aired since this incident and I would like to reassure people that we will thoroughly investigate the officers’ actions”.
