The man asking for the a test drive, whom he did not trust to begin with, led him to two other accomplices during their ride.

As for a description of the attackers, Martinez doesn’t remember much but says they are African-American men, with a thin or athletic build, and tattoos on their arms. “I knew something was up when he pulled over”, said Martinez, explaining that at that point, he’d told the driver to give him the keys.

He said he did not get a good look at the kidnappers, and was only able to say that they were “tall black guys” and one was “6-foot-5 and skinny”. Now that victim, 22-year-old Jose Martinez, is speaking out.

Houston police are searching for a gun-toting man who beat up a vehicle salesman and threw him into the trunk of a red Dodge Challenger during a test drive after the two got into an argument. Martinez’s Mom, Melissa Martinez, is still trying to grasp the reality of the test drive kidnapping. All except for the man who was driving the vehicle because he could not get a clear view at him. Martinez texted his manager, then fought his way loose, shot one of the would-be carjackers, and then used his phone’s tracking app to help police locate the stolen auto.

“They were celebrating, laughing, saying, ‘We got the auto.’ All that time, I got out of the tape nearly instantly and got the belt off”, he continued.

The salesman knocked the weapon out of the suspect’s hand, according to police. They chased him and started fighting again. When police went to check on them-they had seemingly vanished.

“They were taping me up and I said do you want money?” But overall, Melissa appreciates the safe return of her son.
