Cara Delevingne takes ‘joy ride’ from fashion to film

Verdict: Cute film…GO see it! Central Cabarrus High School in Concord stands in for the Orlando school, and Charlotte actress Meg Crosbie has a supporting role as Margo’s mercenary younger sister. We had to take those chances and play up certain things. But when Margo takes Quentin on a whirlwind night of revenge pranks against people she feels have wronged her, it reawakens his feelings for her. She then promptly disappears, leaving behind a series of clues as to where she may have gone, and Quentin convinces his buddies Ben (Austin Abrams) and Radar (Justice Smith), along with Margo’s former best friend Lacey (Halston Sage), to help him track her down.

Together, they romped around the neighborhood on adventures, but as they grew older, she got wild, lovely and popular while he focused on his studies.

However she is still getting used to planning her life around movies.

They’re soon joined by a few other classmates on a road trip, though the twists and turns of the journey are less important to “Paper Towns” than the camaraderie of the teens on the journey, which, alas, comes off as forced, stilted and charm-starved.

Don’t worry, Nat Wolff didn’t catch it either. He is able to give the lovelorn young romantic heart without succumbing to what could have been forced sentimentality. There is however, one semi-major adjustment from the book: the ending.

The 22-year-old English model and 32-year-old American singer, aka St. Vincent, looked very much the happy couple as they embraced on the red carpet.

Weber and Neustadter, who wrote the wonderfully quirky (500) DAYS OF SUMMER, THE SPECTACULAR NOW and THE FAULT IN OUR STARS, do a nice job of giving Q and Margo life on the page.

The duo says that their favorite page-to-screen adaptations are “GoodFellas”, “The Godfather”, “The Graduate“, “The Shawshank Redemption”, and “The Remains of the Day”. In order to hold the interest of the audience, the filmmakers chose to really condense down this section and in our opinion, it worked. Not a single teacher or parent leaves any sort of impression. The high school humor will make you chuckle.

When she runs away for the fifth time, Quentin decides to follow a trail of obscure clues – which she has apparently left for him – that he thinks will lead to mythical Agloe, N.Y., a spot created as a paper town on road maps of the 1930s. This coming-of-age tale seems impossibly romanticized, yet somehow it still manages to remain grounded and truthful.
