Through those 30 games, Peralta’s numbers this season have been lower than normal.

Nothing is official yet and the Cardinals have yet to announce a corresponding roster move, though they have a couple of players dealing with nagging injuries.
Peralta hasn’t played since getting removed in a double switch on Sunday while being bothered by pain in his thumb.
“It’s a different spot, but to say it’s completely unrelated, I don’t think anyone can tell you that”, Mozeliak said.
Peralta, 34, missed the first 57 games of the 2016 season with left thumb ligament surgery before returning to the Cardinals on June 7. “It seems like it could be one of those things that just keeps happening unless we got him some rest and some rehab”.
Peralta averaged 19 homers and 73 RBIs the previous two seasons.
Jedd Gyorko will start at third base Tuesday for the Cardinals.
The Cardinals recalled outfielder Jeremy Hazelbaker and right-handed pitcher Miguel Socolovich from Triple-A Memphis while catcher Michael McKenry was designated for assignment.
Socolovich was called up because of the potential workload in the bullpen with 17 games in a row. Hazelbaker still ranks among Major League Baseball’s pinch-hit leaders in home runs (three, tied for second), batting (.368, tied for sixth) and RBIs (six, tied for fourth). He played in 13 games at Memphis, hitting.325 with a home run and 11 RBI.

Peralta, in the third year of a four-year, $53 million deal, joins fellow starters Brandon Moss and Matt Carpenter on the DL.
