Cardinals beat Bengals 34-31

Rounding out the weekend schedule on “Sunday Night Football”, we had a big Week 11 matchup between the Bengals and the Cardinals. However, because Peko was penalized, the ball was moved to the 14-yard line, where Cardinals kicker Chandler Catanzaro would nail a 32-yard game-winning field goal. With a third-down conversion, the Bengals could have either grinded the clock down and kicked a field goal with precious few seconds remaining to set up overtime or, even better, scored a touchdown to go up by four.

“I was just saying “get set, get set, get set” because they were on the ball quick”, Peko said, “and I guess they thought I said hike or something”.

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said there are “a lot of positive memories” of Palmer.

“We had the look that we wanted and we went for it. I could have thrown a better ball and it could’ve helped us win the game”. I don’t see how they make that call at that point in the game like that.

“I like speed”, Arians said.

Nelson had one of the biggest plays of the game, catching a 64-yard bomb from quarterback Carson Palmer to tie the game at 14 early in the third quarter.

The Cincinnati Bengals were penalized for a season-high 108 yards and victimized for four touchdown passes by former quarterback Carson Palmer while surrendering a season-high 34 points Sunday night at Arizona. With a win, the Bengals would be 9-1 for the first time in franchise history.

Todd Gurley opened the scoring for St. Louis in the first quarter with a 1-yard touchdown run and when new starting quarterback Case Keenum hit Lance Kendricks with a 30-yard touchdown pass midway through the third quarter, thinks looked good for St. Louis. Martin had 177 yards in the first half and finished 2 rushing yards short of tying Barry Sanders’ record for most without a TD. He has similarly struggled in two straight games behind faltering pass protection. With 3:44 left in the game the score was now 31-28 with Arizona in the lead. A sack and lost fumble by Dalton, however, led to a 24-yard field goal by Catanzaro. With Andrew Whitworth leading, Bernard reached the two-yard line, where Jeremy Hill punched the football in for a touchdown to give Cincinnati a 14-7 lead. Green and Larry Fitzgerald planned to trade jerseys after Sunday night’s game in the wake of Green’s Bengals and Fitzgerald’s Cardinals trading everything else they had for 59 minutes and 59 seconds. Had the penalty been referred to as as a false begin, the end result would have been a 10-second run-off, effectively sending the game to additional time.

“Just talkin’ to my teammates about how everybody told us we couldn’t do this”, he told ESPN’s Lisa Salters.

Cincinnati, facing a 28-14 deficit with 1:26 remaining in the third, outscored the Cardinals 17-3 in the fourth quarter to tie the game with 1:03 remaining in the game.

It was as if playing a prime-time classic had toughened them for the final six games.

Iupati had to be carted off the field last week in Seattle after sustaining a neck and head injury. Green (4 catches for 79 yards), who caught the pass along his left sideline and eventually went out of bounds at the ARZ 22.

“I’m getting right”, Golden said. We saw the Cardinals jump, but we’ll just have to trust the referees’ word that it was actually Peko’s disconcerting signals that caused that jump. “That’s a great accomplishment and it motivates us to keep going”.
