Carl Hagelin signs with Anaheim Ducks
Carl Hagelin’s patience has been rewarded with a big new contract from the Anaheim Ducks.

According to the Orange County Register’s Eric Stephens, the deal carries an average annual value of $4 million.
Hagelin, 26, was acquired from the Rangers with second-round (59th overall) and sixth-round (179th overall) selections in the 2015 National Hockey League Draft in exchange for left wing Emerson Etem and a second-round (41st overall) pick in the 2015 National Hockey League Draft.
Carl Hagelin’s brand new contract with the Ducks could be the beginning of a great relationship. “It’s just a matter of finding the right term and the right number”. They made a commitment to me with a four-year deal. You have some security going into the season, being wanted and feeling like you can be a big part of the team. So the Ducks were able to get a good depth player for a little more than they probably would have liked, but considering the Ducks are in a “win now” mode I think they’re okay with paying a little more.
Hagelin, 26, had 17 goals and 18 assists in 82 games last season, when he was one of three Rangers to appear in every game. He’s likely set for top-six duties with the team next year alongside Ryan Kesler and Jakob Silfverberg.
The defending Pacific Division champion Ducks expect Hagelin to take a bigger role than he held in New York, and he seems eager for the challenge. I’m extremely motivated. I’m ready to head over there right now. He helped the Rangers reach the postseason for the last four seasons, including their 2013-14 appearance in the Stanley Cup Final against the Kings.
Hagelin signed a four-year contract with the Ducks on Friday.

At the draft, general manager Bob Murray noted Hagelin adds a faster element to the game than then-unrestricted free agent forward Matt Beleskey.
