Carlisle Salvation Army donations low
One week before Christmas, the Salvation Army was still short of its goal of raising $2,604,268 in western Pennsylvania, but a last-minute surge of donations helped them surpass their goal by more than $100 thousand.

“The money coming in to the red kettles exceeded our projections, which puts us on solid footing as we make the final push for the remainder of the campaign”.
Captain Chris Williams said the Grant Street worship and service center’s goal for the campaign was $68,000.
The Salvation Army’s local branch is closing in on its annual fundraising goal.
The campaign represents a “significant portion” of the organization’s operating budget.
The local group has set $325,000 as its goal each year since 2012, Proctor said.
Over 40,000 pounds of food have also been donated, as well as many toys for their hampers.
The shelter has 11 rooms for families and one room for single women with a total of 36 beds. Doing the most good… for the most people…in the most need.
Yet, he said, walking into the shelter would change that perception. “Not only for their generosity and their help, but for their trust”, said Hall. With a growing demand for its services across the country, The Salvation Army will use the additional money to fund its much-needed programs in 400 communities across the country.
The organization operates its Campus of Hope site in Monroe and a second office in Temperance.
“We just have to work twice as hard with fundraising to try and make up that shortfall”, she said.

“Everybody’s got a story about the kettles and how they or someone they knew were helped out by something The Salvation Army has done for them”, Proctor said.
