Carlos Beltran: Beltran sweepstakes down to Tribe, Rangers

Texas Rangers trade rumors: Carlos Beltran, New York Yankee outfielder, is likely to be dealt, according to Mark Feinsand, who says that the Texas Rangers and the Cleveland Indians are the finalists. He was the Rangers’ first round draft pick in 2015 and has pitched to a career 4.62 ERA. He would head to #Yankees in Beltran deal. But Dombrowski may find the price tag is too high for a rental, with Beltran set to become a free agent at the end of the season and both Blake Swihart and Chris Young working their way back from injuries.

In other words, Beltran is a prime trade candidate. He headed into the season ranked as the 36th best prospect in baseball by MLB.com. The Rangers selected him over Vanderbilt RHP Carson Fullmer.

From the MLB Pipeline scouting report: Tate can dominate hitters with two pitches, a lively 92-98 miles per hour fastball and a sharp 85-89 miles per hour slider. He has improved his changeup since he started using it more often, but it still has a ways to go before it becomes a reliable third pitch. He doesn’t run anymore and might be better suited to DH than play in the outfield – and the Rangers can accommodate this – but this is a jolt of power to the middle of the order.
