Separately, Fox News announced the departure of 7 p.m. host Greta Van Susteren on Tuesday morning.

Van Susteren joined Fox in 2002 after more than a decade as a legal analyst at CNN. However, Politico reported that a financial disagreement led to her leaving, a person close to the situation told the news site.

While the settlement removes some uncertainty, observers said questions remain about the conservative news channel’s ability to retain top talent and whether more allegations will surface.

Carlson has voluntarily dismissed her federal lawsuit in New Jersey against Ailes, a court filing shows.

Attorneys for Ailes did not immediately return calls for comment on the settlement.

According to Vanity Fair, Fox has also reached settlements with two other women who alleged harassment by the executive.

In a statement in July Ailes had said Carlson’s suit was in retaliation for the network’s decision not to renew her contract after disappointing ratings for her show. Fox News characterized Tantaros as an “opportunist” who was taken off the air for writing a book without permission.

Brit Hume will take over as the new host of “On the Record”.

On Tuesday, Carlson issued a statement saying, “I am gratified that 21st Century Fox took decisive action after I filed my Complaint”.

Judging from Fox News’ memo, which cooly thanked her for her contributions for 14 years but didn’t go out of its way to elaborate on her presence at the network, the split was not amicable.

Carlson’s lawsuit was a wakeup call for Fox shareholders, who have not had to think about vulnerabilities tied to Fox News, Wieser said.

However, New York magazine reporter Gabe Sherman, who has been out in front of the story from Roger Ailes controversy from day one, wrote that his source disputes Kurtz’s claim.

Ailes, 76, denied Carlson’s allegations when the lawsuit was filed.

Another former Fox personality, Andrea Tantaros, has filed a harassment lawsuit against the network.

The cable news channel Fox News generated plenty of news today.

To be sure, Van Susteren agreed she wasn’t happy there as of late. We are proud that she was part of the Fox News team. “Ailes did not contribute”, Estrich said in an email message.
