When a candidate does something to capture the public’s attention-getting into the race at all, in the case for Trump, or delivering a breakout debate performance, for Fiorina-the “discovery” of the candidate results in an increase in media attention, which in turn results in a surge in the polls.

The vast majority of political pundits remain unconvinced that Fiorina has any significant chance of winning the Republican presidential nomination.

Fiorina, who was the former CEO of Hewlett Packard, also discussed her thoughts on the pope and religion with Fallon, saying she would support a president of any faith.

As president, Fiorina said she “would not tolerate” Xi building military outposts in the South China Sea. Trump tweeted Monday. Fiorina introduced a softer-side to the audience, telling the crowd how she learned about God from her mother and about conservatism from her father, a conservative federal judge who sat on one of the most liberal circuit courts in the country. “And I think that’s really important”. She went on to say that she was hired as CEO in 1999 “to save a company”. “Five trillion dollars of trade goes through the South China Sea every year, and China wants to be the choke point”, she said.

Having bought a moment’s time, she proceeded to defend her tenure, declaring, “I will run on that track record all day long”. Trump pointed to Yale School of Management Senior Associate Dean Jeffrey Sonnenfeld’s assessment of Fiorina as “one of the worst technology CEOs in history”.

The college’s Nisbet Honors students met with Fiorina at the school’s Blackman Music Building before conducting a town hall meeting on campus. She said she sat with him for about 45 minutes. She described him as a formidable, confident adversary who can be amusing and charming. “That’s quite the contrast to Donald Trump’s criticism of Mrs. Fiorina, especially the criticism that “‘She says the same thing over and over and over, but a lot of the people didn’t hear it in the debate so they heard it for the first time.

“But he’s a KGB guy, you know, we should never forget this”, she added.

Gotten some information about the prospect that Trump would meet with Putin when Putin is in New York for the United Nations Summit, Fiorina said, “both of them have a ton in like manner”, before including, “we’ll simply abandon it at that.”
