Carly Rae Jepsen was a bartender before a pop star

We’re giving away several pairs of passes to an exclusive, intimate concert by Carly Rae as part of JetBlue’s Summer Friday series, followed by a special meet and greet session with the singer, this Thursday, August 20 at 6 p.m.in JetBlue’s award-winning Terminal 5 at JFK Airport. Compared to the overwhelming success of “Call Me Maybe”, the album, though critically praised as one of the best pop releases of the year, was a commercial flop. This performance is so special that the airline moved it to Thursday in order to give Jepsen’s biggest fans and lucky travelers a preview of her new album E-MO-TION, one day before it is released. The music strikes all the right poses, but by doubling up Jepsen’s vocals on both the pre-chorus and actual chorus, her lovely voice, often coming off as charismatically earnest, here sounds hollow, empty.

The 29-year-old singer cast the Hollywood star in the promo clip for “I Really Like You” and struggled to stay cool because she was so excited to spend time with him, reported Heat magazine.

“It’s better than being a no-hit wonder”, Blunt sharply responded via Twitter. Jepsen spent much of 2014 starring in the Broadway production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, earning rave reviews.

Even as she commands him to drink tequila for her, though, she doesn’t reach complete remove: when she evokes the possibility of “All that we could do with this emotion”, she’s feeling it, too. Travelers already have the ability to create the ideal soundtrack for their trip and curate the music playing throughout the terminal.

Live From T5 concerts take place post-security for JetBlue customers and contest winners only. Since 2009, JetBlue’s Live From T5 concert series has served as a platform for emerging artists and top pop acts. JetBlue is New York’s Hometown Airline™ offering service more than 85 destinations.
