Carmelo Anthony says he thought LaMarcus Aldridge would sign with Knicks

Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim still believes Carmelo Anthony should have chosen the Chicago Bulls over the New York Knicks, reports the New York Post. “As I start pushing it and taking my rehab, workouts and training up another level, I’ll know where I am at as far as if my legs are underneath me”. From a friendship standpoint, if those are my guys, if those are my friends, I’m going to always feel some type of way about losing guys that I played with that I formed a bond with. The team could still make a trade for someone in free agency. Usually matched up against the opposition’s best wing defender, if he’s not double-teamed, Anthony’s ingenuity and shot-making ability gets him beaucoup buckets. “Phil (Jackson) went out there and did their job”.

It’s hard to object to Boeheim’s concern for his former star pupil, as the Knicks seem perpetually stuck in rebuilding mode, pinning its 2015-16 season prospects largely on a rebounding Anthony and two unproven rookies in Kristaps Porzingis and Jerian Grant. The New York Knicks also blew their shot at him when the team wanted him to strictly play the center position, something Aldridge is opposed to.

Anthony addressed rumors with the media for the first time that he was unhappy with the New York Knicks’ offseason, saying it was “all false”. “I talked to other guys to see if they were interested in going there too”. “I believe the conversations me and him had, it was a big chance he’d end up in New York”. The All-Star forward told Anthony what the Knicks wanted out of him, and he wasn’t pleased. “But I know this is a business and I know he had to do what he had to do to put us in this position”. “Every year they set out with hope that they’re not going to be in last place”. “I hope they can be better”. Arron Afflalo and Robin Lopez followed. “Some people said it was me”. He tried it last season with the Knicks, Anthony said. So four years is a long time.
